...who is a POET??...he is...but a dethroned king sitting among the ashes of his palace trying to fashion an image out of the ashes...
..he is the poorest of the poor..yet he carries an oasis in his heart cultivated by the caravan of his thinking...he is a pauper..but he still pretends to be a ' prince ' in the kingdom of his vivid imagination..
..he only sings when he is starving for he cannot sing if his mouth be filled with food...
..he only raises his hand to beg for he cannot raise his hands if it be filled with gold...
..his wealth is his winged imagination and fictive power to think...and ' thinking ' always acts for him as the stumbling stone to ' poetry '... :) ;)
..he is a tree watered by the river of beautiful thoughts..and carries in his heart a lamp unconquered by darkness..
..yes..he seeks NIRVANA..not by counting coins of gold..but in leading his sheep to greener pasture..in seeking a smile from humanity...in putting his child to sleep..and in writing the last line of his poem... :)

...he will be unheard until humans honor the dead and forget the living..for then only upon his ' death '... ' he ' will rule their hearts...and his kingdom will have no ending... :) :) ;)
..TO HAVE GREAT POETS..THERE MUST BE GREAT AUDIENCES TOO... :)

the paro girl :( :(

yes to you women
in a world of pain
to you bright star
in this ever-spending universe
to you fighter
of one thousand-and-one fights
to you friend of my heart

being a girl..
was my biggest curse..
poverty made it worse..
this is my story..
my battered destiny..
that some greedy men chart..
first they tried to dig..
my grave in the womb..
i was lucky to have seen the light..
later that existence came at a price.
to be sold for my female body..
my flesh..
to the faraway lands..
where the cattle were priced...
higher than women..
and everyday rape came wearing..
the garment of marriage..
now..i was a woman..a wife..
did i say wife..???..or mankind's whore..
to be sold and resold again..
to be shared by many men..
to be devoured by the hungry males..
to satisfy their sexual gratification..
again and again..
now i was a Paro girl..
millions of candles have been lit..
but i never seem to see the light..
facebook and twitter revolutions have been stirred..
but my battered world still remains the same.
a living corpse....in chains...
living a life of tortured existence...
held captive in a country..
where ironically men worship..
women carved of stones..
even today they want me to have a boy..
and thousands of my sisters are being killed in the womb..
as long as this carries on..
every day a new Paro girl is born..
every day a new Paro girl is born..

Every year thousands of girls are trafficked from Bangladesh,Nepal,West Bengal,Andra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu,Jharkhand and north-east India into the north Indian states like Haryana,Punjab and Rajasthan and sold into marriages, these marriages are often fake and termed as ' jugad '..due to the rampant female infanticide over decades , girls have almost disappeared from these places that is why they are trafficked from other places to fill in this gender imbalance..this poem is dedicated to those girls..who go through this worst form of MODERN SLAVERY and abuse  and are termed as the paro or the molki girls..

Dancing for a cause--DID--Indiblogger Meet--The Oberoi-Delhi

Blogging and Dancing for a cause, that concept was new to me and I loved the concept.Dancing for safer streets, dancing for the abolition of female feoticide, dancing against child marriages, dancing for the honor of the soldiers fighting for our sake on the borders. The bloggers came up with awesome performances. The misnomer that bloggers cannot dance was proved wrong. When it came to tapping the feet and doing some salsa ,the blogging geeks couldn't be left behind and they transformed into dancing gods and goddesses.

Time to shake a leg

We write poetry to bring out our bottled up emotions, frustrations and as a mark of protest, the same way dancing also helps us bring out our pent up emotions. When we are angry with someone rather than getting into fights or arguments, its better if we dance out our anger.Caught in a road rage!!!how about dancing out of it,angry with the boss, angry with your spouse, frustrated with corruption, fed up with these never ending scams...Dance It Out!!!..

Shiva is considered the God of dance. He dances the dance of creation, the dance of destruction and the dance of solace and liberation. When he is angry he performs the Rudra tandav to quench his anger. And he expresses his joy with Ananda tandav. How about letting our body sway to our joys and anger and listen to the hidden langauge of the soul, dance like Gods and let our spirits soar over the ether of these endless problems and gyrate out of it.

Lets dance to fight poverty and corruption,
Lets dance against child marriages, human trafficking, racism, communalism and patriarchy,
Lets dance for a society where every man and woman is equal,
Lets dance for a society where every woman feels safe,
Lets dance for the unity of this country,
Lets dance together irrespective of caste ,color or creed,
Lets dance for the equality of all religions and for the right of every human being,
Lets dance for one universal religion i.e ' HUMANITY '.

There are many more issues plaguing our country. It is 66 years since our country got independence,it was possible because of the revolution brought by our freedom fighters. But India is still not a country our freedom fighters dream't of.We still have societies which are fragmented on the basis of caste, patriarchy still exists in our society, people still fight with each other on basis of religion, corruption runs rot in our government, files get stuck for years in red tapism ,there are endless crimes against women, thousands of women and children become victims of human trafficking, khaps still call the shots in rural areas, people are still stuck in the centuries old medieval mindset and everyday there are honor killings. The poor are getting poorer and every day thousands die of starvation. We live in parallel societies where a skyscraper and a slum exists side by side.
The social revolution that our freedom fighters thought we would carry forward is missing. For that social revolution to really happen,' we ' the people have to take active part. Lets make our dance play a part in bringing that social revolution.Let us stop talking and let our feet and the body do the talking as the saying goes ' bodies never lie '.
I love sufism. And I love the way dervishes dance to connect to God.For them dancing is a passion,it is meditation,it is their prayer and religion. It is the way they create a world of illusions and a state of reverie..Let us also dream with our feet and dance like the sufis.
A dervish was once asked why he worshipped God through dancing.
' Because ', he replied , to worship God means to die to self,
dancing kills self,
when the self dies all problems die with it.
So lets dance like a dervish killing that self, lets try killing all the problems, dance like a man possessed with love, dance to the music of madness inside us,letting our body speak that unexplored language of the soul and find that God within us. :) ;)
